March was quite the eventful month for me.
Now, I’m not using that as an excuse as to why I’ve been absent for over a month because I’ve definitely had plenty of spare time to create posts. I actually tried, on multiple occasions, to write book reviews (because at least I’ve still been reading!), but I just wasn’t feeling it.
It’s been over a year since my last monthly recap, so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone by (1) bringing back the monthly recaps to (2) end my hiatus. So, March:
- End-of-the-school-year preparations kept me busy from the beginning of March up until my final examinations in mid-March. It went as smooth as you can imagine finals can go. It’s also not that interesting to talk about, neeext!

- I kick-started my break from school with a road trip to some amazing waterfalls with my girl friends. When we got to our destination, what I thought would be a leisurely hike to said falls turned out to be a full on rock-climbing adventure. At some point, the
(very inappropriate)four-year-old sandals that I was wearing were completely destroyed by the strength of the raging waters(*Be A Man* playing in the distance)and I had to trek down the waterfalls barefoot. Needless to say, I felt really bad a$$.
The quaint lodging house we stayed at had a private beach and pool that we were able to relax at after our unexpected work-out/escapade. Oh, and WE ALSO GOT TO BE SOUP. Sort of. We sat in human-sized woks filled up with hot water, infused with essential oils, and garnished with petals by the beach. It actually felt like I was being cooked because THE WATER WAS BURNING ME, but after I got the temperature right (and stopped acting like a doofus), it was quite calming.
- A few days after the girls trip, I went to the beach with my whole friend group where we did more ~summery~ things as one does at the beach.
- Finally, my close friend actually moved in with me the last week of March. I guess that’s another excuse as to why I haven’t been blogging. I’ve only told one person about my blog in real life, so I’m a little bit on edge typing this post below her while she’s currently on the upper bunk-bed 😂. Asides from that, it’s been a ton of fun having her as a roommate ✨.

Nailed It (IMDB)
I’m usually not a fan of baking shows (because I get hungry while watching them), but Netflix was screaming at me to watch this show, so I did.
Nailed It is a reality TV show where normies with no baking experience attempt to recreate complex desserts wayyy above their skill level. And if that’s not funny enough, the host and guest judges add a ton of humor with their sarcasm and snarky side comments.
OH MY GOSH, IF YOU’VE WATCHED THIS CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT OUR FAVORITE MOMENTS BECAUSE EACH SECOND OF THIS SHOW IS PURE COMEDY. I’LL START: SYLVIA BEING SUBTLY DIRECTED TO THE TELEPROMPTER TO READ HER LINES 😂.
Project Runway (IMDB)
I randomly clicked on this title when I saw it on Netflix because I needed some background noise while cooking and cleaning. I ended up watching more of the show than doing work (honestly, this is the story of my life).
Project Runway is a reality TV show in which fashion designers compete in numerous challenges in order to ultimately create a collection of clothes to be presented in New York Fashion Week. Their time-bounded challenges consist of making innovative designs that are worn by a model down a runway at the end of each episode and then judged by supermodel, Heidi Klum, famous fashion designer, Michal Kors, and fashion director for Marie Clarie magazine, Nina Garcia. As with every reality TV show, there’s some added (and very unnecessary) drama, but it’s fascinating to see the creative designs the contestants can whip up in a short span of time.

Small Foreign Faction by Haley Blais
I found Haley Blais’ Youtube channel during one of my Youtube deep dives and was quickly recommended to listen to this song. 10/10 would recommend.
LEW
Last year, I went to Singapore with my sister and cousins and was surprised by how beautiful and innovative the city-state was. We wondered upon a music festival at some point where I discovered a band called Cadence. Since then, I’ll occasionally look up bands like Cadence which usually leads me to other Singaporean groups or artists. I found LEW during one such search and have been listening to his album Lullacry non-stop.

I read three, four-star books in March whose reviews are still to come (hopefully this year).

The Universe and Beyond, with Stephen Hawking (Youtube)
The StarTalk Youtube channel posted the full episode of Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s with Stephen Hawking shortly after his passing as a homage to the late physicist. It’s thought-provoking, humorous, and inspiring.

I have only watched the first episode of Nailed it, but Sylvia being directed to the theleprompter was the best moment in the entire episode! Also, watching those poor people try to make these overly complicated desserts is so funny.

Yes, I’m glad someone agrees 😄! I feel kind of bad laughing at the contestants when they’re making such honest efforts to not ruin their desserts. If it’s any consolation, I probably wouldn’t do much better hahaha.
